Innovation Support for Business (ISfB) is the name for a range of products and services to support growth through innovation.

The programme has now been evaluated.

The results from this evaluation exercise have been used to produce an ISfB infographic and a three-page Management Summary report available to download here.

Network Navigators

The Network Navigator scheme was created to offer Oxfordshire businesses a unique service, working together to build an environment that encourages and supports innovation.

Specifically they:

  • Provide advice and guidance
  • Signpost to sources of help
  • Specialise in their sector
  • Are well connected locally
  • Link clusters, experts and networks

Innovation Support Vouchers

OBS worked with Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce to provide ‘Innovation Support Vouchers’. Vouchers worth up to £5,000 were available to grow Oxfordshire businesses and drive the creation of jobs.

Oxfordshire businesses could use the vouchers to claim back 50% of the costs for:

  • business training
  • specialised research or technical facilities

Innovation Grants

OBS worked with delivery partners in Oxford's universities and investment groups to distribute grants to innovative technology businesses and social enterprises.

Grants between £1,000 and 101,000 were distributed; so far the funding has helped to created nearly 200 full-time jobs in the county, and this number is expected to increase.

Start-Up Success

Start-Up Success was a programme for start-up entrepreneurs and micro businesses in Oxfordshire, focusing on the critical components needed to run a successful business.

We have since extended the programme through our 2016 Start-Up Success Social and Start-Up Success Parents schemes.
